because:
this.mLastTickInNanoSeconds = renderEnd - renderInterval;
renderInterval = renderEnd - renderStart
so:
this.mLastTickInNanoSeconds = renderEnd - ( renderEnd - renderStart );
so:
this.mLastTickInNanoSeconds = renderStart ;

so:
no need nanoTime() twice
